I find it odd that someone would take such issue with a random comment that Aborigines are not black, that they needed to protest

i was born as a third generation (perhaps even fourth gen. but my great great grandfather never got baptized) jw.
i remember that when i was young, perhaps about five years old, i would think about jehovah as this big black ghost with yellow eyes.
to me he was quite frightening, and i was constantly catious not to piss him off.

The reality is that born-ins are set up to fail outside of "the truth". The reason you hear about people falling on hard times after leaving, is because they never developed the social skills necessary to cope in the real world. That combined with the fact that they lived such a sheltered life, that when they leave, they want to indulge in all of the things they were deprived of.
And yes, when they inevitably have problems, JWs seem to relish it. It reinforces their belief that "the truth" is some sort of safe haven from the big, bad world.

Yes, my POV of Muslims is skewed, in part because of 9/11, as well as other atrocities you seem unwilling to acknowledge. It is also skewed because of fundamental issues I have with their belief system. But it is no more skewed than my attitude towards Christians, who as you say, have their own history of oppressive and destructive behavior, and fundamental beliefs that I also disagree strongly with.
None of that equates to 'hate'. I am fully capable of viewing individual Muslims(or Christians) as good people who have adopted a belief system I don't agree with.
